The Museum of The Royal Westminster Regiment
officially opened on 15 April 1973. The Museum is located in the old
gun room of the historical Armoury located at 6th Street and Queens
Avenue in New Westminster. The committee was chaired by Major H.F.
(Bert) Hoskins DSO, CD.
More details on the story behind the formation of
the museum, historical society and the opening is presently being
researched and will be added to this page in time. Please enjoy the

A large group of former members of the Regiment,
Association, City, Family and Friends gathered to help open the
museum. Some noted seated are Deputy Chief Constable Rod Keary,
Chief Constable Peter Meehan and his wife, Colonel Bill Williams,
Mrs. V. Deane, Brigadier Eakins, Colonel Tom Hall, Captain Ed Caney,
Major Roy Rigby-Jones.

dedication. Colonel L.K. Deane and Major H.F. Hoskins seated.

The Museum
was officially opened by a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. The
ribbon was cut by Alfred Hawkins age 93.
Mr.
Hawkins was the son of Albert Hawkins who was a Royal Engineer who
arrived in New Westminster with Colonel Moody and his troops.
