Presentation of the Colours

May 19th, 1967 Victoria BC

The images below are of the Presentation of Colours Ceremony held in Victoria on the 19th of May 1967. The parade was held before Princess Alexandra of Kent and consisted of participants from The Royal Westminster Regiment, the British Columbia Dragoons, and the 1st Battalion Queens Own Rifles of Canada. These photos have recently been converted from slides. The slides were in the possession of Association member Terry Leith, who approached the Regimental Association for a small grant to cover the cost of transferring the slides to CD. For more information on the parade, please see the brochure. Another treasure was located in the form of 8mm home movies of the parade. These are in the process of being converted to DVD and will be included on this page soon.

Some names have been attached to the images. If you know someone not identified, please send an email to Ted Usher. The last several images on this set are of the actual 'trooping' parade that took place in Queens Park almost a year later in 1968. The photographer for this images is unknown.

Okay soldiers, what do you find odd about this photograph? Send Ted Usher an email if you know the answer.

You may be wondering what the heck the RCMP member is doing in this photo.

He was caught half way up to his salute. You remember - longest way up, shortest way down.
